TWELVE TO PUBLISH FORMER DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF CIA

MICHAEL J. MORELL’S THE GREAT WAR OF OUR TIME

November 13, 2013—Deb Futter, Publisher of Twelve, an imprint of Grand Central Publishing, announced the acquisition of THE GREAT WAR OF OUR TIME: An Insider’s Account of the CIA’s Fight Against al Qa’ida by former Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency Michael J. Morell with Bill Harlow. Editorial Director Sean Desmond acquired North American rights from Andrew Wylie of The Wylie Agency LLP.

Morell, who served in the CIA for over three decades, is uniquely qualified to explore the global war on terror, our successes and failures as well as the continuing real and imminent threats to our national security.  THE GREAT WAR OF OUR TIME will offer an unprecedented look into our nation’s war against al Qa’ida during the period he calls the “most remarkable in the history of the CIA.” Morell was a top CIA officer who saw it all—the only person with President Bush on 9/11/01 and President Obama on 5/1/11 during the capture and killing of Osama Bin Ladin—and one of the main people responsible for America’s safety during this new kind of war. THE GREAT WAR OF OUR TIME will be a vivid, newsmaking account of the CIA, a life of secrets and a war in the shadows.
Desmond remarked, “Morell is able to place the War on Terror in a context for us that is not only necessary but will make this book a classic of its kind.”

Morell added, “It is important to tell this story, not only as a reminder of what our country has endured, but how we have triumphed and the serious threats we need to be mindful of and attentive to going forward.”

The book will be published in Spring 2015 and will be released in hardcover, eBook, and simultaneously as an audiobook by Hachette Audio.
